Hair loss is the party that none of us wanted to be invited to. And a lot of the time, talking about female hair loss is seen as 'taboo'. But we're here to break the stigma.
If you're in the beginning stages of your hair loss journey, it can feel scary and overwhelming. There's so many 'unknowns'. Will my hair come back? Will this treatment work for me?
ï»żSomething that really helped me come to acceptance in my hair loss was getting down to the facts. It allowed me to let go of the things I couldn't control.
- 50% of women experience hair loss at some point in their lifetime. I am not alone.
- Medications such as minoxidil only help 1 in 5 women. If these medications donât work for me, I am not broken. There isnât something wrong with me. Medications are not a full-proof solution.
- Hair loss affects over 30 million women in the United States.
- 50% of women experience hair loss after giving birth. 50% of women experience hair loss during menopause.
- Scientists still donât know exactly what causes hair loss. It is not my fault or something I have done to myself.
- There are many forms of hair loss. My hair loss journey might not look the same as other people and thatâs okay.
- Hair loss isnât currently a âcurableâ condition. But there are solutions.
Once we accept these facts, we can start looking to the future. Itâs time to let go off the things we canât change and start finding ways to cope.
